How to buy tickets or charge IC cards

How to buy tickets from a ticket vending machine

As shown below, there are three types of ticket vending machines. Types of bills that can be used vary by machine type.

  • Check the fare

  • Check the fare to your station in the fare table posted above the ticket vending machines.

This is the initial screen of a vending machine.
Put in cash at first.

  • On the touch screen, touch a button showing the fare amount to your station.

  • The screen is switched to a ticket-issuing screen.

  • Take the ticket. Do not forget to take any change.

Charging an IC card (ICOCA, Suica, etc.)

Types of bills that can be used vary by machine type. Also, please note that IC card slots vary by machine type.

  • This is the initial screen. Put in an IC card at first.

  • On the touch screen, touch a button showing the charge amount that you would like.

  • Put in cash.

  • When you need a receipt, touch the "Receipt needed" button on the bottom left. When you do not need a receipt, touch the "No receipt" button.

  • The screen is switched to a processing screen.

  • When the process is completed, you hear a beep sound.
    Take your IC card. Do not forget to take any change (and receipt).

How to use ticket vending machines

Use the automatic ticket gates to enter and leave the station.

  • Tickets and magnetic cards

    • ●Tickets

    • ● Magnetic card tickets
      (e.g. HANKYU TOURIST PASS, Surutto KANSAI)

    Put in a ticket into the slot on the automatic ticket gate.
    Do not forget to take the ticket after you pass through the gate.
    The ticket is collected when you leave the station.

    • Black-colored ticket gates are for IC cards
      only and cannot be used for normal tickets or for magnetic cards.

  • IC card tickets

    ● IC card tickets (e.g. ICOCA, Suica)

    Securely touch the IC card reader with the card.

How to ride trains

Trains stop at different stations depending on train type, except on some routes. Please check the train type indication on the platform or on the train before getting on.

Check the guiding sign on the platform

Check the train type and destination indicated on the train

Train announcements also alert stations where the train is stopping.

Points for attention when you ride our trains

We ask for your understanding and cooperation in safe and reassuring operation.

On the platform

Baggage

Take care not to drop your suitcase or other baggage from the stairs or escalator.

Smartphone

Do not operate smartphones while walking because it is extremely dangerous.

Even in a rush

Do not run on the platform.

Do not run onto a train because it is dangerous.

While waiting for a train

Please cooperate in lining up for the train.

Other

Taking photos

When you take photos, take care not to carelessly point your camera at other people.

Smoking

No smoking in trains or station. Please smoke in the designated smoking areas.

In the train

  • All Hankyu trains can be used with normal fares only.

    No express fare, seat fee or other additional
    fares/fees are required.

Women-only cars

Hankyu Railway has women-only cars in some trains on the Kobe line, the Takarazuka line and the Kyoto line.

The women-only car may also be used by children of elementary school age or younger, as well as the disabled and their male helpers.

Men in the women-only car may be questioned by railway staff.

In an emergency the women-only restriction may be lifted.

    During morning rush hours on days when the weekday timetable is applied

    Commuters limited express (Umeda=Kobe-sannomiya)

    Car
    Final car (from Kobe-sannomiya) of ten-car trains

  • Takarazuka Line

    Available time
    During morning rush hours on days when the weekday timetable is applied

    Train types
    Commuters limited express (cars leaving Kawanishi-noseguchi for Umeda)

    Car
    Final car (from Takarazuka) of ten-car trains

  • Kyoto Line

    Available time
    Throughout days when the weekday timetable is applied

    Train types
    Limited express/Commuters limited express

    Car
    Fifth car from Umeda, only a car with two-person seats
    (no long-seat car as a women-only car)

Indications
  • Indication of women-only cars

  • Indication of boarding positions on the platform

Indication of manners on the train

We ask for your understanding and cooperation in safe and reassuring operation.

Cell phone

Put your cell phone in silent mode and refrain from speaking over the phone on the train.

Refrain from using the cell phone or similar device with audible sound from the speaker.

Headset (earphones)

Adjust the volume of your headset or earphones to avoid disturbing other passengers.

Suitcase / backpack

Avoid blocking the aisle with your suitcase or other baggage.

Take care not to hit other passengers with a backpack on your back.

Courtesy seats

Offer courtesy seats to persons who need them.

Turn off your cell phone near courtesy seats when the train is crowded.

Other
